How hard is it to change a tie-rod end at home on a rear wheel drive family sedan?

It is on a 1996 Holden VS Commodore. I have my own tools but nothing specific to tie rod ends. I know that once it is changed it will need a wheel alignment immediately; but I just want to know how difficult is it to change the ends at home?|||It isn%26#039;t actually that difficult but by the time you add your time, the tool rental and having an alignment done, you may was well have it done at a shop.|||fairly easy, rent a pickle fork to make the job easier.

Hell I wouldnt know what they would call a pickle fork down under though...

http://www.thepartsbin.com/cartools/spec鈥?/a>|||peice of cake. 2 jack stands, large hammer and a pair of pliers for the cotter pin, and just lossen the 3/4 inch nut enough that you still have it on the treads and then hit that sucker at the nut and the thing should pop lose its about a 1 1/2 hour job|||not hard at all, you just need a 2lbs hammer and a some wrenches, rember to hit the knucle and not the rod to loosen it, then have car realigned.|||most of the time its not hard and you can knock them out with a hammer.

But sometimes they are rusted in and you need a special ball joint puller
